TWO charities have each received a staggering £14,400 donation thanks to kind hearted golfers.

At the AGM of the Sand Martins Golf Club earlier this month, the two charities were presented with the money raised by the generous members over the past year.

The two charities are My Cancer My Choices and Building For The Future.

The first provides support to cancer sufferers through complementary therapies from its bases in the Royal Berkshire Hospital Cancer Centre and Bracknell Healthspace.

Building for the Future is a parent-led, Wokingham-based charity which runs Our House, a unique accessible play centre designed specifically to meet the needs of children with disabilities and/or additional needs.

Mandy Barter, CEO and co-founder of My Cancer My Choices and Jane Holmes, chief executive of Building for the Future, attended the AGM to receive their share of the £28,864.82 raised by the club.

Sand Martins’ 2018 captains Pauline Ronson and Alan Norman presented them with a giant cheque for the total amount, this is being split on an equal basis.

Mr Norman said: “Sand Martins Golf Club has long been renowned for the generosity of its members and its support of the local community.

“We are delighted to have raised such a tremendous sum for two such worthy local charities during 2018 – our silver jubilee year.”
