800 not out – save the date for Wokingham Market celebrations

WHEN they say that Wokingham’s Market Place is historic, they mean it.

Next month, a special day of celebrations will be held to mark the 800th anniversary of the market charter being signed.

Wokingham Town Council is planning a host of events in the town hall, Howard Palmer Gardens and, of course, the Market Place itself.

Activities will include medieval events such as birds of prey, archery, apple pressing, calligraphy, and embroidery.

And the market traders will be serving some ancient treats as well as modern-day goods.

The fun will take place on Saturday, September 14 from 10am to 4pm.

Full details will be released closer to the date.
