Anneka Rice at Thrive

READERS with long memories will remember Anneka Rice being the one to receive the challenges, but now she is the one challenging you.

The star of Treasure Hunt and Challenge Anneka has made an appeal in aid of Beech Hill-based charity Thrive. It was broadcast on BBC One’s Lifeline programme on Sunday and it is now available to watch on the iPlayer.

The nine-minute programme highlights how Thrive uses gardening to therapeutically benefit people with physical disabilities, poor mental health and those who are vulnerable and isolated.

She said: “I’m delighted to be supporting this appeal for Thrive.

“From seeing the interaction between Thrive’s horticultural therapists and the people attending its programmes, it’s clear that something powerfully restorative is happening, something that’s helping people overcome physical and psychological challenges and giving them confidence and purpose.”

Thrive works with more than 70 client gardeners.
