Last weekend was the first opportunity for Bees fans to welcome our new import, Dominik Gabaj. He introduced himself right at the beginning of the game against Bison by opening the scoring against our local rivals.
We’ve been playing well lately. Earlier games against Bison had not gone well, so a win on their ice would confirm that team performance is now going in the right direction. We built a commanding lead by the end of the first period. Bison raised their effort in the second period but we kept control of the game and ran out 5 – 3 winners.
A big thank you to the fans who travelled to the game. I hope that result made the journey worthwhile. I know watching the game wasn’t easy but we appreciated your support.
If only we had started our game against Swindon on Sunday on home ice with the same intensity. Instead, we found ourselves conceding early against the League leaders. By the end of the second period we had drawn level.
We had chances to win the game in the third period. Unfortunately we did not execute on two different 5 on 3 power plays. It’s crucial you score with a lengthy two man advantage. We outshot them, but they took the points.
This weekend we travel to Peterborough on Saturday and look forward to welcoming Sheffield to the Hive for the first time on Sunday. They have some exciting young players in their roster.
It’s sure to be another exciting weekend of hockey. See you then.
