Beehind the bench: Bees stung by late goals in double header

Featured in the paper every Thursday, Bracknell Bees head coach Doug Sheppard gives latest views on the club’s season on and off the ice in an exclusive column.

Both games last weekend could have gone either way. Peterborough scored their winning goal with a few minutes to go. Raiders scored their winning goal with a few seconds left on the clock. This is the first weekend where we lost both games.

Of course both players and fans were disappointed by the results but I thought the team played some of their best hockey of the season on Sunday. Raiders had a strong second period and went into a 5 – 2 lead. Bees came back to tie the score at 5 – 5 in the third.

There’s often a fine line between winning and losing in hockey. We look forward to our next game to restore confidence and belief.

We’ve got some great fixtures to look forward to this month, not least home and away games against our local rivals in Basingstoke. When you look at the results so far, there’s one heavy defeat we need to make up for.

We also look forward to welcoming Hull to the Hive for the first time. They were very successful last season. This season they have have continued to score heavily.

Thanks to everyone who made Halloween so enjoyable. If you’re looking now for ideas for Xmas presents, don’t forget to visit the Hockey shop.

Thanks for your support. See you this weekend.
