Charvil choirs to team up with American group for Woodley concert

TWO Charvil-based choirs are joining forces for a special concert where they will sing with an American choir

The concert, on Friday, July 5, will see Jewel Tones and Sapphire – both directed by Suzanne Newman – sing with The Young Voices of Colorado, directed by Jena Dickey.

The Young Voices are in the UK for a tour that will see them take part in this summer’s Llangollen Eisteddfod as well as their Woodley date next month.

And the concert will be something of a reunion. The two choral directors met on a course 20 years ago and kept in touch.

Jewel Tones is a choir for girls between the ages of 10 and 18, while Sapphire is a ladies choir which recently performed at the Cheltenham Festival, where they were awarded marks in the Honours category for each of their three classes.

The concert, called One Voice!, will take place at Waingels College in Woodley from 7pm on Friday, July 5.

Tickets cost £5.
