Ellis Woods resigns as Eversley and California boss

Ellis Woods has stepped down as manager of Eversley and California.

The former Binfield FC youth coach took charge of the Boars this summer and leaves with the club placed 13th in Combined Counties Division One.

Woods announced his decision this morning via Twitter: “Its with regret that I’ve decided to resign from my position as first team manager of Eversley and California.

Eversley beat Lymington in the FA Vase

“I wish all involved with the club the best for the future and appreciate everyone for their efforts on and off the field during my time. Thanks again, Ellis.”

Woods replaced the departing Phil Ruggles in the summer, after he moved to Bagshot, and a number of players followed him to Fox Lane including Mo Davies and highly-rated youngster Clive Akem-Che.

After a mixed start, Eversley picked up their form in recent weeks and were unbeaten in five before back-to-back 2-1 losses, culminating in defeat at Bedfont and Feltham on Saturday.

This season will also go down in history for the Boars after they defeated Downton and Lymington Town to make it to the first round proper of the FA Vase for the first time, where they were edged out by Horndean.

There is currently no news on who will replace Woods ahead of the home clash with Sandhurst Town this weekend.
