Farley Hill triumph Warfield to gain seventh win of the season

Berkshire Cricket League Division 1: Farley Hill 1st XI (184-8) beat Warfield 1st XI (129 all out)

Farley Hill recorded their seventh win of the season with a 55-run triumph against Warfield. 

Farley Hill were put into bat first after the visitors had won the toss and elected to field. They lost their opening batsman early in the innings as Ross Ditchburn fell for just two runs as he was caught out by Andrew Sutcliffe, bowled Mark Tisshaw. 

Wicket keeper Michael Sheridan and Ali Jalil batted commandingly as a pair at the crease before Sheridan was dismissed by Madheev Kalli on 42 to break the partnership, with Farley on 76-2.

Warfield then found a breakthrough with three quick wickets as Simon Longfield (11), Oli Sankey (4) and Jalil (43) were removed with Farley now on 107-5. 

Josh Hartigan managed to total 35 runs, while Thomas Hale provided 15 near the end of the order to help boost Farley’s total as they eventually finished their 45 overs on 184-8. 

With 184 to defend, Farley made a promising start as Lawrence Heaton-Wright caught out Dan Torry for a duck, bowled Thomas Hale as the hosts gained a wicket before Warfield had put any runs on the board. 

Damian Atherton was next to be dismissed after scoring a quick 23 runs as he was caught out by Sherdian, bowled Craig Jorey to leave Warfield on 28-2. 

Warfield’s top order were removed with relatively low impact to the scoreboard as Dave Neilson added three wickets to his tally with the score at 73-5.

The wickets continued to tumble as Farley closed in on another triumph, with Heaton-Wright picking up two dismissals, while Neilson gained his fourth wicket of the day to leave Warfield in a tricky situation to recover the match on 99-8.

Graham Morris added 13 and Takunda Pswarayi 11, but with their number 11 batsman out injured, Warfield’s innings was put to a stop as Jalil bowled out Pswarayi with the visitors finishing on 129 from 38.4 overs.
