Four men arrested following early morning aggravated burglary in Wokingham

FOUR men were arrested in Wokingham in the early hours of Thursday, July 19, on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possessing a class A drug.

Residents of Baker Crescent and William Heelas Way said that they were woken up around 1am by the sound of a car crash and an impact.

One told The Wokingham Paper: “I was woken by the sound of a car crash, then another impact, then the sound of the same car leaving the street at high speed.

“I saw a police officer running down William Heelas Way.

“Following this, there were multiple police cars speeding up and down the street for a while.”

They also reported hearing a police helicopter scanning the area in the aftermath of the crash.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police confirmed the incident.

They said: “Officers were called to reports of an aggravated burglary in Baker Crescent, Wokingham at around 1.15am of Thursday, July 18.

“A 25-year-old man of no fixed abode, a 25-year-old man from London and a 27-year-old man from London have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

“A 29-year-old man from Ascot has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of a class A drug.

“All four men remain in police custody.”
