London Irish to play Munster in pre-season fixture

London Irish will travel to play Munster at Irish Independent Park in the club’s only pre-season game ahead of the 2019/20 Gallagher Premiership season.

The Exiles will travel to Cork to play the Irish outfit on Friday, September 13 as they prepare for their return to the top flight of English rugby. The teams will contest the Jack Wakefield Memorial Trophy, named in honour of a young London Irish fan who passed away in 2005.

The sides also met last year for a friendly, with Munster coming out as 32-28 winners in August 2018.

London Irish Director of Rugby, Declan Kidney, will be in familiar territory having led Munster to two Heineken Cup triumph’s during his time in charge at the club, first in 2006 and again in 2008.

The game will take place on the same evening that Irish will compete in the Premiership Rugby 7’s.
