ONE of the most unusually named bands will be swinging into Reading next week for a night of Heavy Pop.

Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs are a doom-drenched five-piece from Newcastle who have had an amazing year: they’ve visited many music festivals this summer including Roskilde, Latitude, End Of The Road and BBC 6 Music Festival.

Their five singles from their latest album King of Cowards have all been spun on BBC Radio 6 Music, and received rave reviews for said release.

The Guardian, for example, gave it four out of five – a similar score in Uncut, while Mojo and Drowned In Sound rated it as eight out of 10.

Add in a sweaty and intimate show at South Street Arts Centre in October last year and a date at the London Scala and you can see it’s been quite a year.

On Thursday, November 14, the group return to Reading to perform at Sub 89 in Friar Street.

And it won’t just be the sound of Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs that promoters Heavy Pop will be presenting. Support on the night comes from Riot Season.

Heavy Pop says: “We are extremely excited to welcome Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs back to Reading for what is sure to be another loud and powerful night of music.”

Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets cost £12 in advance. The show is for people aged 14 upwards. For more details, log on to www.heavypop.co.uk
