Police presence remains at site of Emmbrook house fire

Reading Road
Police are still on site at a house on Reading Road

A heavy police presence remains on the scene of a house fire in Emmbrook this evening.

At least three police cars are at the home, which is on Reading Road.

Police on the scene could not confirm any details of the fire, which broke out this afternoon.

The road was closed to traffic while a number of fire engines attended to the blaze.

Traffic was sent down Old Forest Road and Emmbrook Road as a diversion.

At the time, Thames Valley Police said in a tweet: “Our priority is to the safe management of the scene and emergency services in attendance.”

Traffic was delayed as a result and bus services reporting changes to their services:

Reading Buses said that because of the fire and the road closure, the Lion 4/X4 buses are unable to serve stops between Showcase Roundabout and Wokingham Station.

Courtney Buses also ran a diversion.

An earlier version of the report said this was in Woosehill. We’ve checked the ward maps after this error was pointed out by readers and it is in Emmbrook. Apologies.
