Chief Inspector Darran Hill

Chief Inspector Darran Hill has been appointed as the new Deputy Commander for neighbouring Reading Local Policing Area (LPA).

On Tuesday, January 1, Ch Insp Hill took over from Emma Burroughs, who transferred to Force Intelligence and Specialist Operations, following her promotion to Superintendent.

On his new position, Ch Insp Hill said: “I am really excited to become the Deputy Commander for Reading.

“We have an incredibly dedicated and talented team and it is a privilege to be given the opportunity to support them in their commitment to keeping the town safe.

“My priorities are to support and develop our officers, staff and volunteers to ensure we continue to provide the best possible service for our neighbourhoods.

“I will also be focussing our work on effective partnerships, intervention and investigation to help protect the most vulnerable and target those who cause harm within our communities.”

Ch Insp Hill, who previously worked in Serious and Organised Crime unit, brings more than 24 years’ experience spanning major crime and counter terrorism. He has worked for Thames Valley Police since 2009.
