Fara Williams scored five goals as Reading Women crushed non-league Keynsham Town Ladies 13-0 in Woking.
The Royals were firm favourites to move into the FA Cup last 16 against a side competing three levels below in the pyramid and they ran out comprehensive winners.
Kelly Chambers’ side led 4-0 at half-time thanks to a Williams hat-trick, two of which came from the penalty spot, while Lauren Bruton was also on target.
Williams then added to her tally after the restart as the hosts more than doubled their lead to 9-0 before the hour mark with Brooke Chaplen scoring twice and Bruton adding another.
Late goals followed from Charlie Estcourt and Gemma Davison with new signing Rakel Honnudottir grabbing her first two goals for the club.
The win ended a six-match streak without victory and sets up a clash with Birmingham this weekend for a spot in the quarter-finals.
“We knew it was going to be a game where we’d have a lot of the ball, and we did work with that in the week,” said boss Chambers.
“I think in the first half we weren’t doing what we needed to do to get the openings in front of goal. We spoke about that at half-time and we delivered it in the second half.”
