Reading shopping centre teams up with First Days to offer Father’s Day gift exchange

WITH Father’s Day just around the corner, a Hurst charity is teaming up with a Reading shopping centre in a bid to ensure dads get some great presents this Sunday.

On Thursday, June 13, children are being asked to bring a pre-loved toy to The Oracle’s Level 1 to exchange it for a dad-friendly goody bag.

All collected toys – which should be in excellent condition – will go to First Days Children’s Charity, the Berkshire based charity dedicated to supporting families living in poverty.

And as a thank you for their generosity, the first 50 children who donate a toy will be given that present bag packed with gifts from retailers including Kiehls, The Body Shop, L’Occitane and House of Fraser.

Andy Briggs, general manager at The Oracle, said: “Father’s Day offers the perfect opportunity to make your dad feel special and while we know most kids would love to buy their dad a treat, sometimes the pocket money doesn’t stretch that far.

“That’s why we decided to launch The Father’s Day Toy Exchange – to give kids the chance to get their hands on a gift for dad while giving back to charity and donating pre-loved toys to local children who might be less fortunate. We’re proud to be partnering with First Days and to support the amazing work they do across Reading and Berkshire.”

The Father’s Day Toy Exchange will take place on Level 1 of the shopping centre from 3pm to 6pm on Thursday, June 13. The goody bags are limited to the first 50 children donating a toy.
