Reading Toy Run sees thousands of bikers donate Christmas presents to Barnardo’s

CROWDS gathered this afternoon in Winnersh and Wokingham to watch thousands of Christmas angels on motorbikes delivering presents and spreading Christmas cheer.

In its 34th year, the Reading Toy Run saw bikers coming together from near and far to deliver gifts to the children at Barnardo’s High Close School.

The youngest to take part was just 10, and a biker named Graham drove the furthest distance to the event – all the way from Devon.

Once collected, the gifts will be distributed by Barnardos to children across the South East.

The bikers began at Foster Wheeler buildings in Shinfield and drove the seven-mile route down to High Close School, Wokingham.

Fancy dress was popular. Among the bikers spotted were reindeer, the Grinch, snowmen, fairies and of course, Father Christmas.

The trikes and larger vehicles were at the start of the convoy – even a speedboat joined in.

Up next were the scooters, adorned in lights and tinsel, followed by thousands of bikers on everything from Harleys to Hondas.

After the drive, organisers from the Reading Christian Bikers, Ben Spiller and Sean Stillman thanked everyone for coming and donating to their cause.

Principal at High Close School, Mark Shears also thanked the bikers for bringing presents to the children.

The event involved 130 marshalls, organising 1,703 riders and pillions.
