NEXT Saturday, a Woodley-based choir is hosting a special evening of music in Henley to help mark its 40th anniversary.
The Thames Valley Chorus will be teaming up with special guests for the evening of music and more, which takes place at The Kenton Theatre.
Members of the chorus come from all walks of life just to create the distinctive sound of men singing in close harmony.
The group will sing a number of popular songs including a cappella arrangements of Billy Joel classics, songs from movies including Paint Your Wagon and Toy Story, as well as some Elvis Presley favourites.
Joining them will be Simon Mayor and Hilary James who entertain audiences with fiddle, mandolin and guitar and vocals.
Their repertoire includes a Vivaldi concerto, Scottish, Irish and English ballads, songs by Gershwin and Irving Berlin as well as their own original compositions. They will also share some entertaining stories of their travels… plus a song about a parrot, if you are lucky.
Also joining the chorus in Henley are the all-female a cappella quartet Avalon. They have been delighting audiences around the UK with their beautiful close harmony as they enjoy their year as the current Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers (LABBS) quartet champions.
The show starts at 7.30pm on Saturday, September 28. Tickets are £16 (Under 16’s £11) and available from The Kenton Theatre Box Office 01491 575698 or online at http://bit.ly/TVCatKenton
