Thames Valley Football round-up: Wargrave ladies defeat league leaders on rain disrupted weekend

The Nick Markham Memorial Match at Finchampstead FC on a very wet Sunday. The Memorial Match was played by members of the football club.

Thames Valley Premier League

Finchampstead slipped down the league table into ninth after they were beaten at home 3-1 by Wraysbury Village who inflicted Finches third league defeat of the season after six games. 

Berks County climbed up to fifth following their fourth triumph of the season, taking all three points with an impressive 5-0 away win against Maidenhead Town. 

Woodley United Royals earned their second draw of the season to remain in twelfth position in the table as they played out a 3-3 draw at home to Windlesham United. 

Thames Valley Division One

All of the fixtures bar one fell victim to the heavy rainfall throughout the weekend, with Hurst netting three past Eldon Celtic as they moved up to fifth place by taking three points away from home. 

Thames Valley Division Two

Woodley United A suffered a huge away defeat against league leaders Datchet Village as they conceded seven without reply as they remain with just one league win from their five fixtures, sitting one place from the foot of the table. 

Hurst Reserves moved up into second place after they pipped Maidenhead Town Reserves 3-2 in a closely fought contest. 

Twyford & Ruscombe stay in midtable in sixth place as they earned an away point with a 2-2 draw from their away trip at Riching Park Reserves. 

Thames Valley Division Three

Berks County Reserves moved up a place into ninth position in the table after they won their first league game of the season with a 4-1 away win at Mortimer Wanderers.

Women’s Football

Wargrave Ladies won their third league game of the season with a brilliant 3-2 away win against league leaders Woking Ladies to move up to sixth in Thames Valley Counties Division One.

The weather conditions also resulted in Woodley United Ladies home tie against Winchester City Flyers being postponed. Wokingham & Emmbrook Ladies and Eversley & California Ladies fixtures in the Thames Valley Counties Women’s league were also cancelled.
