Wokingham Borough Council seeks members for new Independent Renumeration Panel

Residents can stand to offer recommendations on councillors' expenses and payments

COUNCIL bosses are looking to recruit volunteers to monitor members’ payments.

The independent remuneration panel would also make recommendations to the council regarding the scheme.

Volunteers, who are expected to attend around five meetings from March to September, cannot be councillors, committee members or be disqualified from becoming a Member of the Authority.

A spokesperson for Wokingham Borough Council said the posts on the volunteer panel would last for  three or four years.
