Wokingham Borough mayor becomes first to marry while in office

THE current Mayor of Wokingham Borough has made history by becoming the first to marry his consort while in office.

Cllr Bob Pitts, who lives in Ruscombe, married Val Scougal in a ceremony at Wokingham Town Hall on Friday October 21.

Cllr Pitts has held the position of Mayor since being elected in May, and has become the first Borough Mayor to marry while in office. The new Mrs Pitts is now Mayoress.

Local choir Occasions performed as the couple took their vows surrounded by family and friends. The couple then honeymooned in Cornwall.

The Wokingham Paper wishes the couple every happiness for the future.
