WOKINGHAM’s MP is a tree lover – and to prove it he had his wellies on Dinton Pastures last Friday.

John Redwood was taking part in The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy, a unique network of forest conservation initiatives, which involves all 53 countries of the Commonwealth.

The Woodland Trust has provided five saplings to Mr Redwood, along with 500 other MPs, for him to plant within his constituency.

On Friday, he teamed up with Lucy Jellis and Finn Rothery from Dinton Pastures and Molly the dog to plant three of his saplings in land at the popular Hurst country park.

And he was delighted to do so.

He told The Wokingham Paper: “I love trees – they are beautiful things.

“Here in Dinton Pastures, the trees will make a small contribution to a beautiful tree-lined landscape.”
